Executive Communities, the parent company of CFO South Africa, CHRO South Africa and CIO South Africa, has created two exciting internship opportunities for recent graduates seeking work experience.

Executive Communities, home to thriving executive networks including CFO South Africa, CHRO South Africa, and CIO South Africa, connects C-suite executives through thought leadership, peer-to-peer learning, and high-profile events such as the Finance, IT, and HR Indabas.

The company is seeking two interns – one in marketing and one in community and data management – to gain hands-on experience of our operations and activities for a five-month period, running from 1 June to 31 October. These internships have the potential to launch your careers in the community building space. The internship requirements are outlined below.

Community Management Internship

We are looking for a detail-oriented and proactive Community and Data Management Intern to support our Community Managers with essential data and administrative tasks. This role offers a great opportunity to gain hands-on experience in managing professional networks, working with executives, and contributing to event planning.

Responsibilities

  • Capture and maintain accurate contact details of executives within our networks.
  • Maintain and update the subscriber template to ensure accurate magazine delivery addresses.
  • Assist with data entry, tracking, and reporting for community engagement initiatives.
  • For interns with strong writing skills, there may be opportunities to assist with topics and scripts for panel discussions and Q&As with executives around topical issues and trends.
  • For interns with public speaking potential, there may be opportunities to conduct preparatory calls with speakers, and moderate panel discussions.

Qualifications and Skills

  • Strong analytical skills with an ability to organise and manage large sets of data.
  • Excellent attention to detail to ensure accuracy in database maintenance and reporting.
  • Proficiency in digital tools such as Google Workspace, Microsoft Office Suite (Excel proficiency is a plus).
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills, with an ability to present information clearly.
  • Basic research skills to support event and community planning.
  • Preferred educational background: Currently pursuing or recently completed a degree or diploma in Communications, Journalism, Business, Marketing, or a related field.

Marketing Internship

This internship offers a unique opportunity to gain hands-on experience in a fast-paced digital marketing environment. You will play a vital role in supporting our online presence and contributing to impactful marketing initiatives. Reporting to the Content Marketing Manager, the marketing intern requirements are as follows:

Responsibilities

  • Assist in the management and maintenance of our WordPress websites.
  • Supporting email marketing campaigns using ActiveCampaign.
  • Creating engaging content for our social media platforms, including LinkedIn, Facebook, and Instagram.
  • Collaborate with the marketing team on various projects and initiativess. 

Qualifications and Skills

  • A recent graduate with a marketing diploma/degree or relevant experience
  • A strong interest in digital marketing and social media.
  • Some experience managing social media platforms, preferred.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Monthly stipend: R7000

Work Environment

Executive Communities operates on a hybrid work model with in-office attendance (in Bryanston, Johannesburg) required on Wednesdays, and working from home for the remainder of the week. Event weeks will require increased in-person attendance.
Reliable home Wi-Fi access is essential for remote working days (Executive Communities covers this cost).
