Two internships have been created in the organisation to deliver workplace skills and experience to young people at the start of their careers.
Last year, Executive Communities launched its internship programme, providing the organisation with two much-needed extra pairs of hands in the lead up to the Finance Indaba, the HR Indaba and the IT Indaba.
But capacity management isn’t the only reason for the creation of the internship programme. Executive Communities is also committed to equipping two young people with workplace skills to support them in their career journeys. For both these reasons, the organisation is creating two internships again in 2026.
“While we obviously need more hands on deck in the lead up to the Indabas, we are also aware that one of the greatest challenges for young people looking for work in South Africa is a lack of prior experience,” says Georgina Guedes, the head of people, brand & governance at Executive Communities. “For this reason, we have created two annual internships to deliver real, practical workplace experience to young people – with the aim that they will be able to use these skills as they take the next steps in their careers.”
In 2026, the interns will be placed in two departments: Content & Marketing, and Operations & Events.
Content & Marketing internship
The Content & Marketing intern will gain practical experience in content creation, systems and social media, and the role will include:
- Posting to social media
- Updating project sites
- Conducting short video interviews
- Uploading and optimising videos for social media
- Writing announcements, movers and profiles for publication
The role is open to anyone with a journalism or marketing qualification. Some experience in social media platforms, Active Campaign, Wordpress, and digital marketing and editing tools would be a plus.
Operations & Event Marketing internship
The Operations & Event Marketing intern will gain insights into the behind-the-scenes workings of events, and get involved in real-time delivery on event days. Their role will include:
- Managing back-end registration approvals for the Indabas
- Preparing and packaging material for events
- Providing on-site assistance at events
- Some heavy lifting of boxes, banners and other event items
- Maintaining and updating operations documentation
The role is open to anyone with a relevant qualification or early career experience of no more than a year in a relevant field.
Both roles require:
- The attendance of regular office days and after-hours on events in Johannesburg
- The ability to work in a fast-paced environment
- The ability to learn fast and an enthusiasm for trying new things
- Technical proficiency in the Google Suite (Docs and Sheets) or MS Office (Word and Excel)
- Excellent communication skills
- Full-time availability between June and October (Content & Marketing) and June and November (Operations & Events)
Executive Communities will provide:
- A hybrid working environment (one day a week in the office, with more office time required closer to events)
- Lunch and beverages on office days
- The cost of internet access (if required) and a working computer for the duration of the internship
- A monthly stipend of R7,500
- Real workplace experience, including onboarding, performance reviews and participation in team-building activities
- The opportunity be part of an organisation that engages the top executives in South Africa
If you believe you are the ideal candidate for one of these roles, please share your CV and a letter of motivation with Georgina Guedes on [email protected]. Applications close on 24 April 2026.
